Unfortunately the last few days I’ve been battling a cold.  I haven’t had any motivation to sew, therefor, no new inventory in the Luna Feliz shop.

BUT –  here’s a little more Kings of Leon – Use Somebody

And the Doves – Catch the Sun

and last, but definitely not least, Radiohead  – Jigsaw falling into place

Well folks, my Chinese Take-Outs are officially in a store!  You can see them if you visit this adorable and fun gift shop in downtown Minneapolis – CorAzoN.  The owner has a little area dedicated to local MN craftspeople and artisans.

As far as news on the Etsy front… I need to get in gear and get some more inventory going for that little online shop too.  I have some fun new fabrics that I’m hoping to work with real soon!

I’m working with a boutique/gift shop shop in downtown Minneapolis to get my Chinese take-outs into their store.  They have two stores, so I will supply both on consignment.  It took me awhile to get up the nerve to approach a store, but I may be hooked now.  I meet with them again next week!

Last night I had my second pottery class.  We learned to throw on the wheel.  Holy cow!  I have a new found respect for potters that use the wheel.  It’s really tough and something that our instructor says takes a ton of practice.  Just to get the clay “centered” is half the battle.  Mine turned out to look a bit like a chalice.  I think it was supposed to be more of a cylinder, … it was a design decision, yeah, that’s right…   We used to say that in college when designing patterns and clothing and something didn’t go quite as planned after it was sewn together… lots of “design decisions”.

A new song for the day Bob Dylan’s “Someday Baby”…enjoy

Well, yesterday I shipped off my very first custom order.  It was for a bride that wanted a Chinese Take-Out box for her flower girl.  She’s going to carry it down the aisle and throw rose petals from it.  How sweet is that?  I’m hoping to get a photo of the flower girl with the take-out box.

I am still working on a few new Take-Outs for my Etsy shop with some amazingly fun new prints!

In other news, I have a new favorite song.  I guess I’m not your ‘average’ stay-at-home Mom.  I’ve never lost my desire to rock out to a new song.  My kids love to dance and jam with me too.  Life is too short to act grown-up!   This is the band Kings of Leon and the song is Sex On Fire, enjoy.

*** side note:  I don’t play this song for my kids.  I’m not quite ready to field questions about what sex is from my 6.5 year old. 🙂  And thankfully she’s never asked.

So, I’ve finally signed myself up for that Pottery class that I mention in my “about” page.  I’m very excited, it’s starting this week.  2.5 hours set aside just for me to CREATE, wait… can someone pinch me?    Is this really true?  I’ve had a hard time finding any ‘me’ time lately to sew at home.   I don’t think my sewing machine saw daylight for most of the summer.  With one kid home on summer vacation and a preschooler that changes clothes about 5 times a day, they keep me way busy.

I am hoping to discount a few items in my Etsy shop soon to make room for some fun new updated prints! This week I’m working on paying quarterly taxes, finishing a custom order for a bride that would like to use one of my take out boxes as a flower girl basket, and maintaining a level of exercise that was also put on the back-burner for quite some time.

I must go now, off to the sewing nook!

Not a whole lot of sewing going on here as my kids like to stay up later now that it’s summer!  It’s hard to get motivated to go downstairs in the darkly paneled basement to sew when we have beautiful weather.  Also, sales in the Etsy shop have been slow this month.  Who wants to sit at a computer in the summer to shop anyway????   It’s understandable.

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July!  We spent our long weekend in Wisconsin fishing, napping and hanging out with family.  It was great.  My husband and I actually got to go out on a mini-date after we put the kids to bed on the 4th – we needed it.  It’s been too long.  We came home to MN with one sick kid.  She always seems to get sick on our last day visiting family.  Her body just gets worn out from her regular schedule of sleep and healthier eating.  She gets so excited and happily worked up about seeing her Nana & Papa and cousins that it takes everything out of her and by the time we’re ready to say goodbye she usually has a fever and she’s spent!  Thankfully our little guy didn’t catch it. 🙂

yeah, i’ve been bad about keeping up with this blog, taking a little hiatus from sewing/blogging and dealing with a few other things in life right now

BUT-  Yesterday, one of my new MN Etsy Street team friends included me in her Treasury West on Etsy!  It was so sweet of her – she said my polka dot Chinese Take-Out box inspired her!  Thanks, Chureen!

on another note here’s a new song for today – I’m going to start including music selections in my blog because it’s always been the one thing that can really turn around a sour mood for me 🙂

This is the Doves and the song is “Snowden”

Happy Wednesday!

Just thought I’d include a little tune from my iPod.  This is a great song to run to!  It always makes me feel happy.  Does anyone remember “The Cult”?

Despite my lack of craftiness lately – I have managed to get a few more items done for my Etsy shop.

Here is the newest item:

I also have a new Tote, but I was not happy with how the photos turned out – please standby, more to come soon!

My son has given up his afternoon nap, so I am desperately trying to keep him busy in the afternoons because nowadays he will fall asleep by 4pm and then he won’t go to bed until 10pm!  My afternoon crafting time is mostly diminishing because of this reason.  It’s a hard transition when kids give up their naps.  I think it’s hardest on the moms!
