So, I am excited to say that a friend of mine from one of our local news stations, WCCO,  is running a little story on Etsy tonight at 10pm!  I believe they are including Etsy as a whole and also tidbits from our local MN Etsy street team artists!  After the story runs, I will post the video.

yeah, i’ve been bad about keeping up with this blog, taking a little hiatus from sewing/blogging and dealing with a few other things in life right now

BUT-  Yesterday, one of my new MN Etsy Street team friends included me in her Treasury West on Etsy!  It was so sweet of her – she said my polka dot Chinese Take-Out box inspired her!  Thanks, Chureen!

on another note here’s a new song for today – I’m going to start including music selections in my blog because it’s always been the one thing that can really turn around a sour mood for me 🙂

This is the Doves and the song is “Snowden”

Happy Wednesday!

Despite my lack of craftiness lately – I have managed to get a few more items done for my Etsy shop.

Here is the newest item:

I also have a new Tote, but I was not happy with how the photos turned out – please standby, more to come soon!

My son has given up his afternoon nap, so I am desperately trying to keep him busy in the afternoons because nowadays he will fall asleep by 4pm and then he won’t go to bed until 10pm!  My afternoon crafting time is mostly diminishing because of this reason.  It’s a hard transition when kids give up their naps.  I think it’s hardest on the moms!

things here are a little outta whack

son won’t nap on time anymore, goes to bed late

both kids sick

not a whole lot of sewing going on because of the above.

I’m working on losing weight, being a good wife, good mother, good to myself.

it’s been a good, but exhausting week.

My Son’s newest favorite song:

There was a man named Michael Finnegan

He grew whiskers on his chin-again

He shaved them off but they grew in-again

poor old Michael Finnegan

(he followed me around afterwards asking if he had whiskers on his chin)

2.5 year olds are so darn cute sometimes.

Milton and Margie’s Soy Wax candles just featured my Chinese Take-Out boxes on their blog!  I just met Jess, the creator behind the candles, and they are wonderful.  The scents are amazing AND she’s a Minnesota artist too!

I’ve finally had a chance to “focus” (no pun intended) on working on better photos for my Etsy shop.  I’m hoping this will help make it look more professional. My first round of photos were pretty bad.  I have a point and shoot – no money in the budget for a better camera, so I’m making due with what i have.  Now that the weather is nicer here in MN I was able to take some decent shots outdside yesterday.  I’m amazed at the difference with all the natural light vs. artificial indoor lights during the winter months – blah.  I would love any tips that anyone would be willing to offer on photography with a silly little point and shoot camera 🙂

Also, i would love ANY feedback on my photos – seriously.

well, a whole lot of sewing for my Etsy shop, but more updates to come

I’m including some photo tid-bits from my sewing area, enjoy

Also, last night and this afternoon I’ve been working on treats for a meeting i have tonight….OOH – fudge! Also – Oatmeal Rasin bars.

This is from Rachel Ray’s 5 Minute Fudge recipe.  I added walnuts and marshmallows to mine.  I’m really not a candied fruit kinda gal.

On a parenting note, here is a picture of my son.  I was asking him “So, what did you name your baby (doll)?”  And he excitedly replied “five… um …. HIGH FIVE” and then he repeatedly gave his doll high fives to the head.

Never a dull moment 🙂

that’s right

Go check them out in my Etsy shop

One of my MN Etsy street team buddies, Jane from Glorious Hats , wrote a nice little blog post in our MN Etsy Street Team blog on my Reuseable Grocery Totes. Also, there’s a nice little write-up on MN Etsy’s Allison from ARTitecture .   Her MN inspired handtowels & matching totes are “green” and so very cute!  Check it out!

OOH, and if you’re in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area – go check out Craftstravaganza at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds today, Saturday from 9am-6pm!

I can’t believe it’s snowing here as I write this…. ugh… sigh.

Have a great weekend.

So… I’m just no good at this blogging thing, although I keep trying  & hoping to get better at it.  There are so many amazing crafty blogs out there and I feel as though my life just isn’t really all that exciting sometimes.  I have been job searching pondering the idea of getting a little part time job.  I don’t have my heart set on it, but it would be nice to pad the budget a bit.  I have a few interviews and opportunities coming up in the next few days.  We’ll see what’s in store for me!

But anyway – I have a new bag listed in my Etsy shop.  I created it mostly out of a vintage bed sheet.  What a better way to create something than to up-cycle it!  I love being able to re-use things to create new beautiful and useful – and fun things!   These totes are great for groceries, library trips, the beach and just about anything and they are completely machine washable too!

My little guy has been begging for a “race-caw back pack”, so that is going to be my next project.  I am on the lookout for some cute race car pictures that I could possibly use for an applique – red of course, and the back pack will probably be a dark denim since I already have it in my stash.

Otherwise, things here in my neck of the woods are still snowy and we are trudging along… waiting… waiting for warmer weather.  We have hope.
